About

Dr. Toth Jozsef anesthesiologist and intensive care specialist graduated in 2011 in Budapest from the Faculty of Medicine of Semmelweis University. During his university years, he joined the research work of the Department of Physiology at Semmelweis University, and after obtaining his degree, he worked as a full-time researcher for 4 years, earning his PhD in 2016.

In 2014, he obtained an MSc degree in Healthcare Management from the Health Services Management Training Centre of Semmelweis University. Between 2016 and 2020, he completed his specialist training at the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy of Semmelweis University. After passing his board exam, he was appointed assistant professor and senior consultant.

Since his medical student years, he has regularly given lectures in both English and Hungarian, teaches in undergraduate and postgraduate programs at Semmelweis University, and frequently publishes in professional journals.

Currently, he works as an anesthesiologist and intensive care specialist at the Nograd County Saint Lazar Hospital and at Saint Magdolna Private Hospital. In addition, he joined the PSI Pain Clinic team in 2026 as a trainee.

Publications

  • He began his research career in 2007 at the Department of Physiology of Semmelweis University as a scientific student under the supervision of Prof. Peter Varnai, and from 2011 continued as a full-time PhD student. His research focused on the cell physiology of phosphoinositides, and he obtained his PhD degree in 2016 based on his work in this field.
  • In addition to basic physiological research, he is currently involved in intensive care–related research as well. His main area of interest includes ultrasound diagnostics in anesthesiology and intensive care.
