The exact mechanism of action is not fully understood, but changes in gene transcription within the nerves have been demonstrated, leading to the production of new types of proteins. The treatment temperature is 42\u00b0C, so it does not burn the nerves (in contrast to conventional radiofrequency treatment).<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"590\" data-end=\"791\"><strong data-start=\"590\" data-end=\"667\">In Which Diseases\/Conditions Can Pulsed Radiofrequency Treatment Be Used?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"590\" data-end=\"791\">PRF treatment can be applied in various nerve-related conditions, so-called neuralgias, as well as other nerve disorders.<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"793\" data-end=\"1023\">\n<li data-section-id=\"1t6amjs\" data-start=\"793\" data-end=\"865\">Ilioinguinal, iliohypogastric, genitofemoral, supraorbital neuralgia<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"qmhddr\" data-start=\"866\" data-end=\"882\">Phantom pain<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1ijgp7o\" data-start=\"883\" data-end=\"913\">Post-amputation stump pain<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"12xa68s\" data-start=\"914\" data-end=\"968\">Postherpetic neuralgia \/ nerve pain after shingles<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1sg0axr\" data-start=\"969\" data-end=\"1013\">Trigeminal neuralgia \/ facial nerve pain<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1sg0axr\" data-start=\"969\" data-end=\"1013\">Other<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"1025\" data-end=\"1487\"><strong data-start=\"1025\" data-end=\"1092\">What Should Be Expected During Pulsed Radiofrequency Treatment?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1025\" data-end=\"1487\">The procedure is preceded by a diagnostic block, during which a small amount of lidocaine is injected near the nerve presumed to be responsible for transmitting the pain, temporarily disabling it. This allows the patient to test the expected degree of pain relief from radiofrequency treatment. The pain-relieving effect of radiofrequency treatment is similar to that of the diagnostic block.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1489\" data-end=\"1528\"><strong data-start=\"1489\" data-end=\"1526\">What Happens After the Procedure?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul data-start=\"1529\" data-end=\"1711\">\n<li data-section-id=\"1yw7rzm\" data-start=\"1529\" data-end=\"1645\">Pain relief after the procedure can usually be managed with paracetamol or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"jqkkz\" data-start=\"1646\" data-end=\"1711\">The patient can return to normal activities from the next day<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"1713\" data-end=\"1946\"><strong data-start=\"1713\" data-end=\"1790\">How Long Can Improvement in Function and Pain Relief Be Expected to Last?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1713\" data-end=\"1946\">The duration of pain relief is variable and difficult to predict in advance.
